I am working on the rear axle of the D40. Making one good axle out of two. Behind the bearings at both ends of the axle housing is a cup which shows up on the exploded diagram from the technical page as oil retainers. There was nothing in any of the cups on either of...

Happy New Year to all of our DMAC friends and family around the world.
We look forward to seeing all of you in Canada in September 2016.
Happy New Year

There has always been a question at least in my mind, about the different emblems used from 28 to 29. Blue "D" versus white "D". Chrome versus "gold".
I thought maybe members with 28-9 Durants could post what year and model car they have, and which emblem is on it...
Is it just me or did anybody else incur a turkey and dressing nap this afternoon? Shirley and I had a great time and survived the relatives. We hope ALL of you guys had a good helping of the same. See you'ns next year and I'm already plotting Star stashes around the...
Its that time again .
Hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year. Maybe this year you will find that elusive part you have been hunting for.

Has anybody researched , cross referenced and actually remember and recorded a source of direct or retro fit engine valves for the Star 4 bangers that we can presently look in to?

Just a heads up on an almost impossible part to find. By accident I came across an eBay seller selling many parts and one was a 3 x 2 3/4 lense used, I think in Durant's only, Special and Deluxe. I'm told a few of us cut out plastic circles they are so hard to find....
Since I've got the car on the road now, I'm progressing with a few updates/changes that I've been wanting to do.
The first is the production of cast iron brake drums to replace the original pressed steel drums. The originals were never the best. Combine that wit...
Hi I may be purchasing a 1928 Durant and was just curious if anyone could tell me how much they are valued at? It is all steel, no rust or filler. Mostly complete. Needs a motor and interior. Still have original cluster, interior light, transmission, all body panels,...
The January 2016 Hemmings Classic Car paper edition 136 shows a very nice picture of Dennis Reinke's 1932 De Vaux custom convertible coupe. It's shown at the Concours D'Elegance at Saratoga Springs NY in September 2015. A very fine car indeed and one to be especi...
Hello Durantonians!
The Durant museum is always looking for items to add to it's collection and many of you have such items laying around gathering dust or sitting in a drawer or file cabinet. Things like an extra odd hub cap, advertising literature or items, m...

My W5 engine was rebuilt before I purchased this project. I put 5 liters (about same as 5 US quarts) of oil in the engine.
My oil dipstick did not come up to the full mark. First startup was only for about 10 -15 seconds. Second start-up a day later was about the...
For lack of a better term is there a biscuit or a high temp. gasket that goes between the manifold and the exhaust header?
Anyone have a source or part number?
Thanks.
Does anyone know of any exhaust parts. In need of a gasket for the first joint right off the manifold. Compression seal. The gasket is gone. Any suggestions??

I need a distributor housing for my distributor that mounts it to the back of the generator. I sent my generator/distributor off to be restored and my housing has the dreaded stress fractures that our great pot metal pieces get. Before I go through the trouble of hav...
Can someone tell me what the small switch that is below and to the right of the main lighting and ignition switch is for? The picture is from a 1926 Star Coupe 6 cylinder. I have a 1926 Star Coupe 4 cylinder and I also have the switch so I am thinking it is origina...
Does the Auto lite Distributor #GRA-4101 fit the Continental 6E engine?
Does anyone have this information or a cross-reference book.
The DeJon units are pot metal and fall to pieces.
Howdy,
Am wondering if anyone has had any luck opening up the core on a '28 / '29 Durant honeycomb radiator.....I bought this radiator at the Monroe, WA swap meet a couple years back, It appeared not to be in too bad of shape other than the usual mouse nest, so...

The Pacific Coast chapter will take in the celebration of the 100 year anniversary of the Duarte Garage in Livermore, California. The garage was a Durant and Star dealer during the 1920's.
Our folks will represent the DMAC with our cars on display where it is beli...
The repair manual (page 94) states "A dowel between the motor base and the starting motor frame locates it in relation to the flywheel".
I am not clear on what this means. What size dowel? and exactly where?
Can anyone clear this up for me.
Thanks,
I bought a restoration project in pieces which included the old wiring harness and a new harness that the previous owner had made-up. I have re-wired my project from scratch and do not need this harness. I can not guarantee the accuracy or workmanship of the harnes...
Hi All.....
Well here is my latest find. This power unit came off an old oil patch in Northwestern Pennsylvania. It was used into the late 1980's to pump oil wells. It was only changed because the owner got tired of cranking it!
Check out the pictures and yo...
My 26 Star project came without the original type distributor. I have adapted a Delco Remy 635B. My question is where do the positive and negative connections from the coil go. The distributor has a connector on the side. Which wire would hook up to this and wher...

This seems to be the closest site as I've found for people that might be interested in the DeVaux-Continental of 1933-34.
I collect automobiles, boats, and other modes of transportation that bear the "Continental" name.
From what I've learned the C/DV was a con...
I have the fittings but I don't have a proper grease gun. Does anyone know if there is an adapter that can be exchanged for the Zerk fitting on a regular grease gun? Or a source for the Proper grease gun used on Durants
I could not find anything in the archives....
Can anyone give me a clue what model this is ? There is an outside door handle on Ebay with same shield shaped backing plate. 221382562568

How do you remove the front seat back? Looks like it is bolted to the door post. Can't see any visible screw heads and I don't want to pry. Perhaps it was upholstered after installation. Looks to be original.
