I found your poem "In Memory of Patrick Swayze (Monchielle)" on Comcast.net, as I was doing my regular websearches for Monchielle, which I am the creator of. It is a nice poem, but I need to point out that it is not complete; It is missing one stanza, it has three, it should have four... Check some more on the Monchielle form on the web, and you will see this. :P

This is another excellent volume of poetry by Christiana R. Jussaume. As always she renders compliment upon her family members in her books. One must read this exceptional volume of poetry, To God Give The Glory, to appreciate its essence.

In this volume, the poem "On Our Anniversary," listed on page 51, written in the Shandorma form, is dedicated to her husband. The line "Let us grow like the sun for eternity," is really a touching simile of loving expression. Additionally, the poem Replenish Our Love, listed on page 62, and written as a challenge poem is equally poignant. Words such as, "My sweet dearest, come to me now, and feel my heart, as it does thump," manifest their purest love.

Taking her poetry a step further, she penned a special sonnet to her husband on page 166, known as a "Shadow Sonnet." The first and last words of each line are the same. This raises the stakes in the penning of sonnets to another level; one Shakespeare would have probably not comprehended in his time. Words such as, "Cuddle with me dancing, sweetly cuddle/dance to our favorite song, slowly dancing//, tell a wonderful story of such a loving relationship with vivid images.

Giving credit to her family, especially in times like these when the traditional family unit and its values are under attack, is quite noteworthy. Regarding her father, she pens a special poem entitled "A Daughter's Grief," written in the Monotetra form on page 147, uplifting her dad. She writes this special line, "You my parents, I do adore, wait at gates door, wait at gates door." In this piece she expresses her grief regarding her parents not physically being here with her at the moment.

With love in her heart for her country and president, she expresses jubilation for the president as he takes the oath of office in the form of an Etheree poem on page 134. She also prays for the economy to be fixed and the anticipated changes to come. She prays for God's guidance of the president, as others do in sincerity.

While keeping other poets in her thoughts, especially those who have gone before her, she pens a wonderful Acrostic poem for Ralph Zimmer, "The King of Acrostic Poem," as known by his contemporaries, on page 76. Zimmer was such a wonderful poet who inspired us with his unique style of Acrostic Poetry, and we all missed him so much.

Additionally, in each of her books, she renders credit on her publisher and friend, Patricia Ann Farnsworth-Simpson, a spiritually uplifting writer of many religious books, who resides in the United Kingdom. Additionally, she gives credit to her special friend Daveda, in the poem entitled Magical Forest Part 1 on page 48, written in the poetic form named after her, "Daveda's Cascade." The poem continues in several parts throughout the book.

The book lists approximately 70 different poetic forms and styles, which makes it very interesting to read. The diversity of poetic lines, images, techniques, and creativity are very inspiring to meditate on and to explore. Unlike other poets who stick to just one form or style of poetry writing, Christina is truly gifted in spanning the spectrum of poetry with her imaginative writing style and artistically energetic manner.

Her creative spirit in writing Acrostic poetry, and her use of the quatrain stanzas, is very uplifting. She has a special insight regarding the use of rhyming patterns and inventing her own creative rhyming style of rhymes with a unique blending of words.

One of my favorite books in the Bible is the book of Psalms. She has used the Monchielle form to rephrase several of the Psalms in her own creative style and fashion. These are very remarkably crafted, and ring with such an adorable inspiration.

The pictures and motifs she uses throughout the volume are just awesome. As the saying goes, "A picture tells 1,000 words." Likewise, the ones in this volume render the same message.

This volume also has a glossary section, which explains the forms of all the poems listed in quite an understandable manner. This makes the reader able to comprehend the poems more clearly, instead of wondering about a certain definition.

Christiana starts the book with the poem "To God Give The Glory," which is written in the Hourglass format. Finally, she ends the volume with the poem "The Greatest Birth," written in the Lucky Leaf form. Contrastingly, both poems have a direct impact and corresponding impact on each other, with God giving birth to life covered by a leaf, and with all glory being rendered onto Him for His creation.

Joseph’s Star – Such a Wonderful Book of Inspiring and Uplifting Poetry for Ages to Come!

What a wonderful book this is by Christina R. Jussaume! This is her fourth poetry book, which embarks upon an excellent journey in creative writing. Christina has shown that she is in not just a poetess who writes books; she has proven that she is a poetess of poetry in the figurative and literary sense. This book is just awesome and should be an integral part of the creative writing curriculum in many schools.

Christina poetic artistry is elevating, her ability to conceptualize with metaphors is inspiring, and her quality of style in creating images for the reader is stimulating. Surely, she should be considered one of the 21st Century great poetesses, which she has demonstrated with her eclectic style of poetic articulation.

Her presentations in the book have given a breath of fresh life to the seasons of the year. She brings flowers, plants, birds, and nature to existence in “Prayer for Wildlife,” with the use of the Kyrielle poetic form. The double etheree poetic form gives warmth to the poem of “Spring.” The hourglass poetic style gives rays to the poem “The Brilliant Sun.” Finally, the terza rima sonnet gives sparkling snowy mist to the poem “The Winter Landscape Scene.” Naturally, this demonstration of her love and appreciation of nature and God has been reflected beautifully in these poems.

Any reader will be able to understand her respect for the poetic craft by reading the poem “Passion for Poetry” written in sonnet form, where she outlines her stimulation for poetry as a stress releasing process. Her respect for the poetic craft shines in the poem “Words as Therapy” with the use of the blank verse poetry form. This is a demonstration of her finer qualities of poetry. The royal chant poetry form speaks to her poetic license in the poem “Our World Today,” and the hourglass form is emblematic of how poetry removes the blues and gives bliss in the poem “A Poet’s Legacy.” Certainly her love for the poetic craft is at work through her muse in the articulation of these poetic forms.

Christina has always given praise to her family and friends. For example, each of her books has shown her family as a motivational force standing with her. Credit is given to her parents in the poem “Memories of Mom and Dad,” to fathers in the poem “To All Fathers,” and to mothers in the poem “For Mom on Mother’s Day.” Furthermore, she has a bonding with her friends. For example, Pat Simpson, who is her publisher in the United Kingdom, is always there. Additionally, Daveda Gruber, “The Blonde Who Found Jesus,” with the charming smile from Canada sticks with her as a supporter.

In summary, the motifs and magnificent pictures gracing this wonderful poetry book make the pages easier to read, more stimulating, and enlightening. The art work she presents in the book activates the senses and brings more meaning of life in the interpretations of poetic symbolism, thus heightening the impact of the poems. Reading this book and getting the holistic picture is a great undertaking for everyone to experience.

This review is written By Joseph S. Spence, Sr., Epulaeryu Master, Poet, and Author, and Inventor of the Epulaeryu Poetic Form, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
