Burke, Virginia, USA

Comments:

I have a special affinity for the Queen\'s Own Cameron Highlanders. When I was a boy I had some lead soldiers of the Queen\'s Own Cameron Highlanders (my Dad came from Glasgow). When I was 18 I saw the Pipes and Drums of the Queen\'s Own Cameron Highlanders in Chicago. That inspired me to try to learn the pipes. I did. My pipes have been to the war in the Persian Gulf, and I played them while we were not escorting reflagged Kuwaiti tankers in the 1987 Iran - Iraq Tanker War. My pipes and I are growing older now, but we will always have a tender spot for the Queen\'s Own Highlanders (Seaforths and Camerons). God bless you!

My grandfather, James Fraser Mackay, served in France during the first world war and stayed in the regiment until at least 1936. I\'m writing about the family so was trawling the internet for info. Have a good one.

Jacksonville, Alabama, USA

Comments:

When I was with the US Cento Team in the early 1970's I became friends with Paddy McGovern. At that time I had a new Delta 88 Oldsmobile and every time Paddy got in it he would get in the back and then he would tell everybody that the US Army had assigned me as his driver because I couldn't shoot or coach and they realized how important he was. He introduced me to good single malt scotch which has been my drink of choice ever since. I had a lot of fun with Paddy.

Does anyone know how I can get in touch with Sgt Ronnie Craib who was with the Queen's Own Highlanders Cento Team. I don't know if he remembers me or not. I'd like to find a contact for Sgt Paddy McGovern's son also. I understand Paddy's son joined the Regiment. I know Paddy passed away.
