We used to use 1/8 x 1/4 butyl. And finish the outside with silicone seal to keep the water out. I suppose now we would use thane, dry fit and use a sharpie for a primer line. Then prime body and glass shoot a bead and install. I would still use cone to finish the outside, it's easier to work with than thane.
Set in urethane, on the outer use Sika 295 uv it is the best for cosmetic, low modulus urethane , easy to tool with the benefits of urethane. Used in the RV industry for cosmetic bead.
