1973 Corvette Rear window

Have to do one these on a guys project car. He has the glass. I can see that it is installed from the inside. The car is gutted. What was it originally bonded with? Is that still a good idea? Should I do it differently? With what? Sorry guys, I was born in 1983 and have installed a lot of glass, but this is my first inside install onto fiberglass. What say you Lee?

Re: 1973 Corvette Rear window

I am almost 100% certain butyl cord.

Lee ?. You should be asking Bob Barenenk here. He's the auto glass Guru around these part's.

Re: 1973 Corvette Rear window

We used to use 1/8 x 1/4 butyl. And finish the outside with silicone seal to keep the water out. I suppose now we would use thane, dry fit and use a sharpie for a primer line. Then prime body and glass shoot a bead and install. I would still use cone to finish the outside, it's easier to work with than thane.

Set in urethane, on the outer use Sika 295 uv it is the best for cosmetic, low modulus urethane , easy to tool with the benefits of urethane. Used in the RV industry for cosmetic bead.
