If I may, I’d like to tell you about a new book that speaks in a very personal way to the experience of military families. It’s called Minefields of the Heart: A Mother’s Stories of a Son at War (Potomac Books, July 2010).
My son served two tours of duty as an infantryman in Iraq during the height of the insurgency there. While he was in Iraq I wrote about that experience from the perspective of the home front for several publications. Those stories were the starting point for the book Minefields of the Heart.
