How many glass technicians are there?

How many people are doing glass install and/or repair both in glass specialists as as well as in collision repair shops? The Bureau of Labor Statistics says about 15,000 but that seems low and must completely miss the collision repair shop work.

Wow, the 2000 census showed just under 27000 businesses not techs. I wonder how low that number is now, if your tech figure is even close to correct?

Thanks. I just checked out the census stats and found NAICS 811121 Automotive Glass Replacement Shops employs about 28,000 in 5,905 businesses. No one seems to have a good handle on it.

Wow just think multiply the # of shops times 1000.00 for legal aide, equals

$5,905,000 folks we could do all of us some good here if we could

put together the cash for guess what??? This could fund a good law suite

and maybe makes some positive impact in the industry.

So is it actually possible the number of shops dropped from just under 27,000 to just under 6000 in 15 years? If that statistic is even close to true the consequences are mind-boggling and it's got little to do with so called consolidation.
