86 Mercedes 560SL

86 mercedes 560 sl convertible with the chrome 3/4. any tips on this?

Re: 86 Mercedes 560SL

Screws under rubber on sides hold drip rail. Take these off for access to side moldings. All moldings held on with friction clips should come out fairly easy with pry tool, unless someone slammed it. If the area your in has rust problems you might want to take some extra clips(dealer). These are held on with a pop rivet. If it's original it will probablty be halfway loose but the part thats still glued will be a bear to cold knife. HTH

Re: 86 Mercedes 560SL

Lee, isn't there a small hidden screw near the top of the side moldings? It's been years since I touched one, but for some reason, I recall a screw near the top.

Thanks. Nice to know the mind is still sharp even if the body is starting to fail me in my old age.
