Open your mind

Wow, thats refreshing; all it required was to open my mind.

the single tpa's days are numbered. Glass is gold, what other industry has shops stupid enough to kneel before any entity that wants to set their pricing? Just because this guy says he worries about paychecks clearing, doesn't make him one of us. Sounds like he wants an open diverse network where he can control pricing, you know, a structure that makes sense, has credibility, and allows others to profit from our labor. Guessing someone from iGA was hugging the guys leg.

technology or not, just what we need, a different master, not much difference from where i stand.

should change to title to swimming with the sharks.

Re: Open your mind

I have a simple question.

What is Solera's main income source?

After answering that, isn't it prudent to "follow the money" when seeking to gain knowledge, in the industry's case?

That would, of course, be THIS industry's case. Not necessarily the insurance industry's case, or the claims processing industry's case, although many would have us believe we're all "in the same industry".

Nothing could be further from the truth. And few of our goals, responsibilities, or liabilities are comparable either.

In fact, we're dealing with folks that make their money by "lessening the severity" of those who pay to indemnify insureds against loss. Unless we're in the industry of subsidizing the insurance industry with cost cutting programs at our expense, then anyone who believes our goals, responsibilities, and liabilities are compatible or similar, is short sighted.

And yet, they were applauded for graciously promising to never get into the replacement business. Why on earth would they want to, to assume the liability, to go down the path they see the future evolving away from? Especially if they can get us to assume all the risk, all the liability, all the costs, and all of the "shrinking margins", while they make record profits?

He was right about one thing, the current network model is on it's way out. But the replacement he envisions and is building, isn't something that appears to be any better. But he certainly knew the right buttons to push with the audience, according to the article.

Of course, better would depend heavily on your viewpoint, be it insurer, data provider, claims processor, or repairer, now wouldn't it?

I look forward to learning more, but so far, all of this sounds remarkably like history repeating itself, yet again.

Re: Open your mind

Does anybody remember when the next best thing was a network ran by PPG that was going to help the independent glass shops and you had to pay to play? Well now look at it what a joke they always know what to say to make it look like the end of the rainbow but it turns out to be a pot or "crap" same old crap different sales model, do you remember usa autoglass the first network they sure screwed the industry up billing 3 times the price it should be...why should networks make the money and assume any liability or do the work
