Fine People of the State of Connecticut

You are to be applauded for your tenacity, and observations, regarding the protection of consumer's rights, the first of which is choice.

So first and foremost, consider giving yourselves, (ourselves), "the consumers", the right to choice first,(did I mention first?), unencumbered, on the merits of our own research, and of the glass shop's reputation, then, and only then, (should some remain undecided) , at their own peril, let them be referred to what ever shop "THE SYSTEM" decides.

CAUTION:

Insurance companies and their third party providers are accepting bids to provide auto glass replacement for their policyholders. As a policyholder you may be STEERED to these irresponsible bidders, who are generally selected solely on the basis of lowest cost. To compete in this market, these rogue companies often need to compromise the integrity of your vehicle by using inexperienced personnel and/or substandard materials that may void factory warranties and/or cause damage such as rust, water, paint, body, electrical or other damage, not to mention the heart/headaches.

We have the right and responsibility of choosing the best possible repairers for our vehicles.

The experience of a technician can vary greatly, from 20 days to well over 20 years. There is NO SUBSTITUTE for this time and training.
SAFETY is also a hidden factor that may never be realized except in the event of a crash or rollover. The windshield is now a very important and integral part of your vehicle, preventing injuries under these circumstances.
KNOW YOUR TECHNICIAN and AVOID being STEERED in the direction of self-certified and/or self- referring third party administrators (often 1-800 numbers found on the backs of insurance cards).
Instead seek out technicians that belong to companies whose success depends on reputation and referral. Glass Associations, Mechanics, Local Chambers of Commerce, or Insurance Agents will have experience in selecting a reputable Auto Glass Shop in your area, should you need help making this important, responsible choice.
CHOOSE WISELY! This could be a life and death decision.

Additionally, I ask that you recognize the fact, that a motor vehicle is a major investment for most of us, and when we purchase glass coverage, we fully expect that insurance companies will fulfill their responsibility, and preserve that investment.

This may include factory authorized or Original Equipment Manufacturer Parts,(OEM), not plagiarized, Original Equipment Equivalent Parts, (OEE), ... products fabricated to mislead you into believing they are the same as your logo'd parts. It's just not true, these parts can compromise the value of your vehicle. Imagine Nike sneakers with the swish in the wrong direction.

Two experienced technicians will set a windshield better than one, so ask if your chosen company will send two !!! Too often, it seems Third Party Administrators, (masquerading as the insurance company themselves), conspire with those insurance companies, leaving you with shoddy products installed by inexperienced or inadequate personnel.

In most, or perhaps all states, we have the right to choose the repair shop of our choice, and I ask you to observe, and respect that choice. When a glass shop is painted into a corner, and expected to perform at the same rates as rogue or rookie installers, with cheap, reverse-engineered, aftermarket parts, The premise of this choice may be lost.

Re: Fine People of the State of Connecticut

Democracy becomes a government of bullies tempered by editors.

Be patient till the last.
Romans, countrymen, and lovers! hear me for my
cause, and be silent, that you may hear: believe me
for mine honour, and have respect to mine honour, that
you may believe: censure me in your wisdom, and
awake your senses, that you may the better judge.
If there be any in this assembly, any dear friend of
Caesar's, to him I say, that Brutus' love to Caesar
was no less than his. If then that friend demand
why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my answer:
--Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved
Rome more. Had you rather Caesar were living and
die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live
all free men? As Caesar loved me, I weep for him;
as he was fortunate, I rejoice at it; as he was
valiant, I honour him: but, as he was ambitious, I
slew him. There is tears for his love; joy for his
fortune; honour for his valour; and death for his
ambition. Who is here so base that would be a
bondman? If any, speak; for him have I offended.
Who is here so rude that would not be a Roman? If
any, speak; for him have I offended. Who is here so
vile that will not love his country? If any, speak;
for him have I offended. I pause for a reply larry

LOL! key words "right now". Are suggesting that your standards will revert back to your usual ones at a later time? If you are pushing quality over price "right now" you must be buying and selling OE glass from your competitors instead of your reverse engineered OEE stuff that you usually "stuff"....
