Diamond seeking service partners?

Received a call today from Diamond seeking a service partner in our area to perform services for one of their fleet accounts. We have never received a call from them in 22 years in this area. Was curious if they have called anyone else recently?

Prices were obviously far below what we charge for services our area, example $50 flat labor.

I know HAL was asking where Diamond/Triumph had closed shops or pulled out of services areas. I thought HAL might also be interested to know that it appears they might be farming work to sub-contractors in an effort to cover service areas they closed or pulled out of. The pricing was very low HAL, so you may be wary of just who is performing the services for them.

Maybe Diamond is going the Safelite route trying to establish their own network to fill in the gaps?

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

The same pricing they're requestng as 3rd party administrator for Mercury insurance. My opinion
of "a good start".....Hal (from the dark side),
Jessey Herrera and his sidekick Bud Oliver, all in the same toilet where this pricing belongs.

Nuff said.

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

If D/T is looking for subcontractors to do work for them anyone who does is a FOOL.

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

It would be like helping the executioner sharpen his axe.....

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

Interesting-

Perhaps new management will bring a new corporate philosophy?

Perhaps some new opportunities, as they do have continued performance obligations.

Guess time will tell.

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

What 'continued performance obligations' would those be, Hal?

'New Corporate Philosophy' is interesting also.....perhaps this refers to a new system of 'Enron Accounting'?

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

hmm... Maybe the reason D/T is looking to farm out some work is because a few shops down south have completely walked out and they have no employees to do the work?

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

Hal...again you write like a newbie...what good is a performance obligation when you no longer exist?? Have you not heard of banktruptcy....wil DT stay open because they are "obligated" to you (or any other ins. co?)

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

Hal's performance obligation could be a reference to preferred status for DT within State Auto's unbiased and market driven glass program. DT is obligated to do State Auto's work at pricing less than the standard program and State Auto is obligated to make sure that DT gets more work.

Of course, there is no steering and the insureds are free to use any shop they choose.

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

that would be interesting if some of the big boys go down, their gas bill has to be out of this world.

then i wonder who would dictate pricing, it seems the safelie, diamond approach to nation wide pricing has really cost us, but it has to be cutting their throats as well, regardless of the volumn.

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

New policy at D/T-Huge vacation gains for all employees and a large bonus for employees who stay with the company for an extended time-5 yrs., 10 yrs, 15 yrs., etc. Had to be implemented because of the mass exodus from this failing company-add this to their current overhead and to the niche that all the installers have on the side and you've got a plan for disaster-

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

I wouldnt call a 50 dollar gift card for 10 years of service a huge bonus.

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

They had to do something with the left over gift cards... Please, vacation time and a bonus for extended service? How many employees left that have actually worked there that long? They got rid of anyone who know what was going on in the glass world. The only people left are the yes people that tell the power couple running the show what they want to hear. How do you run a glass shop in Gadsden, Al from Kingston, Pa when your only visit to a shop consists of a walk through (which prompts a walk out and a scenic ride to the airport???

Re: Diamond seeking service partners?

We recently received a request to do one job in a city that they don't service. Not sure if they ever had a shop there.
