American Family / safelite pricing

has anyone seen the report that Am Fam / safelite is sending to their agents showing the pricing of local glass shops and the pricing? they do list them selves and the "average" price they will charge, of course they need to take into the # of repairs that are put into. BUT, doesnt safelite charge a flat fee for Am Fam like they do for every other company they do business with? I heard it was 180 or 220 per job, even if its a repair. How do we find this out? anyone know?

Re: American Family / safelite pricing

Safelite does not charge AmFam a flat fee. It depends on the State, but most are around 53% off NAGS. In some states they are the primary repair shop and others they are 2nd. They also charge AmFam $17 for every claim they handle... replacement or repair. $17 is added to any invoice paid.

Re: American Family / safelite pricing

IS THAT LEGAL?

Re: American Family / safelite pricing

Funny, I was wondering if the Flat Fee charge would be considered insurance fraud. They are obviously charging insurance companies WAY above the going rate for doing a rock chip repair. This model of billing seems fraudulent. Not sure if any other glass shop charges a flat fee whether they replace it or repair it. The claim total affects the insureds policy as well in most cases. Wonder how the insured would feel knowing the TPA and the insurance is making a false claim on pricing. HHmmmm

Re: American Family / safelite pricing

Maybe we should all do the same for the local insurance agents/companies? With a high repair/replacement ratio 50%+(I think safelite stores run about 30% repair is all) you could make a killing, and it would definately encourage more repairs.

$200 per job sounds very nice.
