rage goes retro 4 - sneak peak EXCLUSIVE INFORMATION UPDATE. FINALLY more Countdown plus Rock Arena

Retro Month 2021: Week Four
It’s the final week of Retro Month, but before we leave the time machine, we’re bringing you one heck of a show that’s jam packed with a little bit of love for every retro viewer out there.

Suzanne Dowling will be back on your screens this Saturday night to take you back to the 1984 music scene with full episodes of Rock Arena featuring Hoodoo Gurus, The Dugites and more. And yes, Countdown fanatics, we’ve heard your cries and dug even deeper into the vault to drag out some extra dusty tapes just for you. So, do yourself a favour and tune in because we’ll be bringing you rare Countdown episodes from 1982 and 1986 featuring Tim Finn, Dragon, and Elton John.

But we haven't forgotten about you 1990s kids. This Saturday morning, we’ll be turning the clock back 30 years to bring you a collection of 1991 alt/indie music videos from the likes of My Bloody Valentine, Pixies, and Nirvana. Then, if you stay up late enough on Saturday night, you might even see some nostalgic 1990s throwbacks that’ll have you longing for the glory days of flannel shirts and combat boots.

So, tune in to the final instalment of Retro Month 2021 this Saturday February 27 from 11am, and later that night from 12:20am on ABC TV.

Re: rage goes retro 4 - sneak peak EXCLUSIVE INFORMATION UPDATE. FINALLY more Countdown plus Rock Ar

OMG, sorry I did ask rage to go back 30 years (after the first week of going back 40 years to 1981) to play some videos from 1991. Wasn't expecting an alternative 1991!!! Oh well, maybe we'll get Ratcat and The Clouds in the mix. LOL.

Re: rage goes retro 4 - sneak peak EXCLUSIVE INFORMATION UPDATE. FINALLY more Countdown plus Rock Ar

Ugh, 1991. How sufferable. It was rather hideous the first time around minus Kylie Minogue and bits of pop. Why am I NOT surprised rage are doing Alternative/Indie 90s and why am I not surprised Nirvana is mentioned. Ughhhhh, I loathed the 90s in the 90s and still loathe them but 1990 was good and 1991 was just bareabley good till the hell of 1992 came along.

Just a pity that the 90's always need to be grunge as 1990 was actually a great start to the decade and 1990 Countdown Revolutions still had that 80s vibe to it a little bit.

Re: rage goes retro 4 - sneak peak EXCLUSIVE INFORMATION UPDATE. FINALLY more Countdown plus Rock Ar

Ratcat lol blast from the past. I'm a big fan of 90's pop Brit-pop in particular like Blur Oasis Suede etc. Not into the grunge bands at all except for a few songs. Have really enjoyed every week so far and week 4 looks like ending Retro month on a high.

Re: rage goes retro 4 - sneak peak EXCLUSIVE INFORMATION UPDATE. FINALLY more Countdown plus Rock Ar

For me 1990 & 1991 Top 50 mainstream was great. As good as the 80s and as Jason said it all went **** in '92. Grunge, Hip Hop, R&B were killing the charts, literally! Lol. it got better in '95 with britpop, then manufactued girl band and boy bands (after SG & BSB) finished off the decade. Great summary i think.

Re: rage goes retro 4 - sneak peak EXCLUSIVE INFORMATION UPDATE. FINALLY more Countdown plus Rock Ar

The grunge hip hop etc scene was the US charts which were mostly rubbish in the 90's.

90's UK pop scene was much cooler until the Britney's and Spices took over

Re: rage goes retro 4 - sneak peak EXCLUSIVE INFORMATION UPDATE. FINALLY more Countdown plus Rock Ar

Britney is an American, not British.
