Re: rage goes retro '3' - FULL 'COUNTDOWN' ARCHIVAL INFORMATION ON EACH EPISODE - Sat 19th Jan,

Acid house was big. Adamski KLF Shamen & S-Express all had huge chart success in the UK. S-Express were big here too. I had the theme from S-Express and Superfly Guy.

Jason, thanks for your info on all the countdown episodes. You typed xmas in the 1985 episode. This is Very offensive! CHRISTMAS is Dear to a lot of people.
I now see what you are talking about, X MAS is actually the way the archivist of the time spelt it for Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's X Mas'. So maybe contact the ABC archivist about such ridiculous matters

At least Painters and Dockers had a punk attitude to them.

Hair Metal Hard Rock bands at least had some GLAM to them in the 1984 to 1986 era, by 1989 there was no trashy camp to their looks at all with Roxus and other hard rock bands by 1989 so that is why I mentioned Roxus. Yawwwwwwn

And as far as Bananarama, they are my all time favourite girl band and I went to London in 2017 to see them with Siobhan but I loathe their 1989 tacky era and can’t stand Jacque.

Bring on wall to wall Countdown’s next year as the themes this year I knew that with these themes January would lead to The Factory which demonstrated that wasting time with reports on toilet urinals, boredom and surage plants were of no benefit to retro time for MUSIC and Recovery hell coming this Saturday.

At least Countdown, even 1987 concentrated on music, Molly May have mentioned sports but they didn’t show 15 minutes of it
Jacquie gets a raw deal from some \'fans\'. She wasn\'t as involved as the others (well, overlooking Keren\'s often vanity let\'s-split-it-three-ways songwriting credits) creatively - but they wouldn\'t allow her to be. She was just a salaried performer, effectively, and had little to no say in how the group did anything. The girls didn\'t want her in the group - she was forced upon them by everyone around them telling them that Bananarama needed to be a 3 piece. Any wonder she wanted out. Just as Siobhan did again. I think Sara is the problem with Bananarama, personality/politics-wise.

As for Roxus, I\'m not a fan, but in retrospect, \'Stand Back\' was alright. Painters & Dockers were, in my opinion, just another boring pub rock band. Roxus at least had some synths on some of the tracks.

No trashy camp in 1989? Hello, Collette and Reynolds Girls!
The Reynolds Girls song was so lol bad! As for camp lets not forget Transvision Vamp or Deee-Lite.

Tania Lacy is very unfunny agreed!
I haven\'t watched any of last night\'s Factory episode yet, so don\'t know what her segment was like on this, but I have found some of her other segments shown during retro month on The Factory or Countdown Revolution amusing. Yes, she can be abrasive and mocking of people she interviews, but sometimes she\'s funny.
Sometimes. The main skit was her being bored and finding ways to alleviate said boredom. I liked Daddo much more as a host compared to Mark Little on Countdown Revolution.

I think Alex Papps had left the factory when this episode was originally aired.

Papps was in H&A, and the Factory was taped in Melbourne.

I didn't mind Tania Lacey, some of her stuff was rubbish though. She was a dancer in that Kylie Minogue Locomotion clip too.

Little was a moron, too old for the countdown Revo crowd back then. Motley Crue thought he was a joke when they appeared on the show in early 1990.

Oh, how could I forget 'Theme From S-Express'. That did well on the charts here too.

10/2/85 was a killer! First episodes of each year blow me away. :grinning:
