Re: GTK description for rage goes retro, nooooooo

They've said (I think last year, or the one before) that Retro Month was including episodes of Rock Arena... and none aired. So, even though they've mentioned GTK, it might not actually happen.

I hope the "Week One - Eighties" banner is not an omen. Week Two - Seventies (GTK) and Week Three - Nineties (Recovery)? What a travesty that would be. Week Four - Noughties? Even that is retro to someone.
Thankfully, there are no 'noughties' programs they could air. Unless they've decided that Triple J TV is 'retro'.

Though I think the 10:30 Slot (which either I wasn't aware of at the time, or completely forgot about its existence) extended into 2000.

At least there's nothing from the 10's they could use if it gets to that at some point in the future

Countdown and Rock Arena only for me and if anything else, Flashez segments. Nothing past 1986
I don't object to some The Factory (though a full, unedited 3 hour episode is a bit much... the 1989 ones were only 2 hours though, and would be OK) or Countdown Revolution (if it's a decent episode with good/rare videos).

GTK though is awful. Even if you like that era of music, the picture and sound quality especially is bad.

Re: GTK description for rage goes retro, nooooooo

Nathan, l know you are a fan of the late 80s and l do like the house stuff and some of the pwl stuff but like many l prefer they stick to Countdown. Anyhow, there is no mention of Countdown Revolution or The Factory, it’s GTK it seems. I also said it sounds like they are doing a theme seeing it says 80s for the first weekend, l haven’t ever seen rage put down a specific decade before on the description before, anyhow .... guess we will have to wait and see. At least it looks like l am getting two of my 1980 Countdown requests 😊

Doesn’t mean because it is retro month that they need to stick to Countdown, there have been some January’s where we have got only a few Countdown episodes with added Madonna specials or 60s specials etc

Re: GTK description for rage goes retro, nooooooo

IIRC there was one year where they split the weeks into different decades but don't think they advertised it as such.

One thing we can all agree on is hopefully no Recovery:sleeping: :slightly_smiling_face:

The 'different decade a week' does ring a bell. I remember there being one year where they aired 2 or 3 Countdown Revolutions on the one night, plus some Factory. That was 2012, I think.

I also remember a night opening with a 60's episode of Six O'Clock something (forget the exact title), probably from the same year.

2012 sounds about right. Think there may have been some hit scenes too for the 60's

Six O’Clock Rock title show

Six O’Clock Rock hosted by the late great pioneer of Australian music Johnny O’Keefe aka JOK.
