Although I have a timecoded copy of the 1979 episode, this is one of just 2 surviving 70's episodes that are yet to air (not counting the 1978 Jon English episode off TV as that is not broadcast quality). The other surviving 70's episode yet to screen is the 1978 Adelaide Festival one which has serious audio faults. I believe the are working on fixing it and hope to show it - probably not in time for this year.
I am looking forward to seeing the 1982 and 1983 episodes as they are good ones that I haven't seen before.
Thanks for that I was curious as to how many 70's episodes remained.
Hopefully that 1978 episode gets shown next year.
Also there's the episodes mentioned by KC- Dec '74, May '76, July '76, June '77- but not sure what's going on with those.
I hope that 78 Adelaide Festival one gets shown one day...looks interesting from what I've seen of it.
But a great selection of Countdowns this Saturday - if only the 10.30 Slot was taken out even MORE eps could have been shown!!
Re: last Saturday's 1983 Malcolm McLaren ep - I wonder if the girl who won the ghetto blaster still has it? Even though it was a rather ugly looking contraption it'd be a collector's item today - be interesting to see where it ended up.
Anyway I hope next week sees the 85 Spandau Ballet ep make an appearance and also possibly an ep of Countdown Revolution - and hopefully NO Recovery!!
I was thinking the same thing about that horned ghetto blaster. One word came into my head: attic!!!
Was HAZY FANTAYZEE 'JOHN WAYNE IS BIG LEGGY' ever played in Full on any Countdown shows? I remember 'Rock Around The World' played it a couple of times. This was the first single I bought by this group, way before 'Shiny Shiny' came out. I use to go to 'Phantom Records' in Sydney to buy all the new singles from England in the early 80's.
No. "Shiny Shiny" is the only Hazy Fantayzee clip ever shown in full on Countdown.
Thanks Clip Magnet. It's shame that it hasn't been played on Rage, they've played their later song 'Sister Friction'.
