Parts

Hi there. I have six 1927 Durant engines and transmissions. Complete other than distributors. Plus some starters , generators, carbs ,water pumps, manifolds and many wooden wheels and hub caps. Also dozens of new brake drums and shoes. Even the jigs and such to make the shoes. Desperately need to find it all a good home. My # is 250 927 7123 name is Dave. Any leads please let me know. Thank you.

Hi Dave,
Looking for a starter and generator for my 1928 D40 but has been retrofitted with a D60 engine. If you have any. Thanks Alan

Re: Parts

The Rugby vin plate attached with Phillips screws claiming to be from Leaside plant doesn't match up. VIN plates riveted to firewall. Phillips screws invented 1934. The rad crest has a D not Rugby. Engine says Durant
D40 came out Jan 1 1929 to Dec 31 1929. Vin's for D40 did not go up to T-19034. The screws in the body are slotted so USA car. Robertson screws Canada.

1929 40 (1/29) L1001 – L5000 T1001 – T10000 C1001 – C5000
1930 40 (8/29) T10001 – T16024 C12000 – C15000

Generator on W5A (D40) GAL 4105
Generator on 14L after Dec 1928 (D60) GAL 4104
Your engine 14L 112786 fits the Jan 1 1929 to July 31 1929 D60, most likely Lansing plant with others starting 112xxx from Lansing. That would also fit with slotted screws, and the D rad crest. Export Durant 4 cyl were rebadged Rugby right up to 1932 but 6 cyl kept the Durant. Makes no sense both weren't Durant. Only reason Star was rebadged was Stars made in England in Wolverhampton.
