Wanted: '29 Durant Rear End Parts

We just stripped the teeth of the pinion in our 1929 Durant Model 60.
We would like to get some rear end parts that are in very good condition so we can get this car up and running on the road again.

Re: Wanted: '29 Durant Rear End Parts

According to aftermarkets pinion and shaft 9 teeth part number 24346 is for M, M2, R, S2, S4, 40, 60, 63, and 65. Bevel ring gear 22307 is for same models.

pinion and shaft 8 teeth number 21995 is for M and R. Bevel ring gear 20674 same two models.

To throw a monkey wrench in this next page is differential parts. non bevel.

For Models C, CC, and F with split rear axle housings
Also models M, M2, R, S2, S4, 40, 60, 63, 65 and 66
205664 differential case
42931C ring gear rivets (8)
22136 differential pinion shaft
22135 differential pinion shaft retaining screw
26666 differential pinion
21180 differential pinion spacer
21178 differential side gear
21158 differential bearing
22012 differential bearing sling

Axle shaft 21128 is for same models less the C, CC, F.

Might give you more options to look for a pinion than just off a 60.

If I am reading this correctly all our cars can have either bevel or straight, ring gear / pinion inc the 1933 C-400, C-600. Only one I notice different is the 633 is bevel, unless it got missed under straight. The 685 which is same body etc is both.

Re: Wanted: '29 Durant Rear End Parts

Does anyone know where I can obtain a crown wheel and pinion gear for my 1929 Rugby 401 trucks two speed differential. Also are thes parts the same as used in any other car differentials?

Re: Wanted: '29 Durant Rear End Parts

Sent you a page out of the Leaside aftermarket and it appears the 401 is an animal of its own for crown / pinion and assorted parts in the rear end. Even front / rear springs, spring shackles / bolts / pins etc are only 401. The universal joint parts are only 401. Front wheels again 401, 3 different rims but only 401 (5 inch one side ring, 5 inch two side rings, or 6 inch) Front / rear fenders / running boards 401. Ah it does share thread cap at least with S4, 40, 60. ha ha.
