Distributor

Looking for recommendations on replacing the distributor housing and re-building generator. Greatly appreciate any help. Engine is running but the cast distributor housing is falling apart and a second generator is mounted on a separate pully.

1926 Star Coupster 4 cylinder Continental W5. It uses the die cast housing driven off the back of the generator.

Re: Distributor

You'll be able to find a original replacement from members, first contact Don Shilling the Star technical advisor, he may have want you need. The other option is a new distributor made for a VW beetle, cut the shart and use the bottom gear from the original. The VW Distributor is a better unit and easy to find.

Re: Distributor

I was able to adapt a Delco Remy 635B but you need the bottom gear off an original distributor.
It did require a minimum of machining.
