Water Pump issues

I have came into ownership of a 1924 Flint E55. Got it running but have some coolant leaks that need to be taken care of. Specifically out of the shaft of the water pump. Looks to have a brass compression sleeve or bushing that the shaft passes through. Coolant is coming out of this area. Was wondering if there was someone in the Durant club that could help me get in touch with someone who knows something about these kinds of things. Also, I can see that there is an adjustable thermostat on top of the inline 6. I am unclear as to how to set this. Right now I have it screwed out counter clockwise but don't know if this is right or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
