Re: Source for rear wheel hub pullers

I just purchased a hub puller for my 6-14 wood wheel hubs. No way to get "most" rear hubs off without one. Mine was $195.00 postage included. Very fast service and this thing is a quality tool. His name is George and he is located in Nebraska. Ross

Re: Source for rear wheel hub pullers

I originally posted about George May 11, 2011 after I received mine. The workmanship is excellent and it fits perfectly. Although you may think it pricey, the cost is worth the quality and workmanship. Worked perfectly to pull my hubs off. 100% satisfied!

Re: Source for rear wheel hub pullers

Hi Ross, I have tried to e mail George to make a hub puller, sadly the site appears down and there is another post George was in ill health.

Would you fancy selling/lending/renting your puller as my rear wheels that have been on the car 50 years will not come off.

I not can anyone else assist.

Many thanks

Alan

Re: Source for rear wheel hub pullers

Sadly Geo. McMurtry passed in the fall of 2022. The hub puller he made for me works great, but I can't imagine that it would fit your Star. They have to screw onto the threads where the wood wheel hubcap fit exactly. The only margin for error is that the tool has a partial split in it that you can tighten up with a pinch bolt. I can send you a picture and maybe you can have one made in the UK? I believe your hubcaps are considerably smaller than 6-14 hubs. Ross

Alan, you need the puller that Ross described. The Model T Ford also uses the same size as Star'

Re: Source for rear wheel hub pullers

When I spoke with him back then, he sounded like he was an older gentleman in his 80's then in 2015. Just another old time craftsman, a machinist that worked in his later years out of his garage out back. I still have my puller he made me for my 1928 Durant.
