HI, Just wondering if there are any spare 22A continental engines around? Our 1930 Rugby has a broken block so I am staring my search for at least a block. Also looking for headlights including the bar, interior door handles and window crank handles, Rugby hood trim pieces, and instrument cluster/dash parts. Thx Chad
The auction of the late Don Shilling's vast parts stash last(?) year had a 22A engine that sold. He was mostly a Star man but I saw this motor in the auction company's pictures. Now who bought it and whether they are going to use it I don't know. Might be worth some sleuthing since you can't just find these anywhere.
The 616 1 1/2 ton truck with dual wheels was built 1930 - 1933 as shown in a 1933 Leaside parts book from Dominion Motors. Our Registry has no 1930, one 1931 and one 1932. The engine block Chad has in his is JB welded in several places. One is at the casting date he can't read for weld on the block but casting lot 22AA 605, its serial is 15267, which fits the 1930 range of the 22A. The head is cast 02 / 10 / 30.
The instrument plate and gauges on trucks is same as the 1930 cars and for some reason right to end of the trucks and didn't change like cars did 1931. The head lights on this should be same Glolite lense 944 as the 1930 cars by Durant Motors. Dominion 1931 and later Depress Beam lense 11471.
He is also looking for hub caps and per the aftermarket catalogue's part 41548 Hub Cap for truck models 406, 407, 416, 611, 615, 616, This I don't understand as 407, 611 were cars, but if 407 was export like the late Reg Bent's1930 touring was badged as Rugby. All the 4 cyl Durant cars 1928 to 1932 when exported were called Rugby. The 611 is a 6 cyl so Durant name.
There is a dash plate on eBay not the best ... 146901896960
Head lights 145857535174 a bit expensive in Levis Quebec.
