The serial number on the W5A engine plate would identify it as a model M when I look at The Registry but only place a vin number would be is the vin plate itself and that would also identify what plant. The first alpha letter of the vin also identifies the plant.

If your Star is 1926 model date Jan 1 1926 to July 31 1926 the vin numbers are
1926 M E-350000 – E- 379999 L-350000 – L-379999 T-350000 – 379999 C-350000 – C-379999
If 1927 model year Aug 1 1926 to July 31 1927
1927 M E-380000 – E- 414999 L-380000 – L-414999 T-380000 – T-414999 C-380000 – C-414999
If 1928 model year Aug 1 1927 to Dec 31 1927

Don't confuse production year with model year.

The number etched in the original wood floor is 40659! You can tell it’s original for sure ! This thing still has original headliner and all so I can’t imagine it being added later but who knows ! It’s only 5 numbers tho

Ok the engine 460366 fits 1927 M. Here's 3 from Lansing in that range. But they are 1928 model year Aug 1 1927 - Dec 31 1927. So yours is 1928 model year. vins are model years not production years.

No idea what the odd numbers in sills / floors are but only place for vin's is the vin plates. I was wondering if a part number but that doesn't work as the 40000 and up part numbers are for vehicles 1930 and up.

Well this makes sense why title is titled under engine number! Yea I’m wondering what these numbers mean but sucks I can’t find vin number for vehicle! So there isn’t a way to actually find it in other way ? I appreciate the help now it seems mine came from Lansing

vin plate should be riveted on the firewall inside engine compartment passenger side. My 32 614 is toe board passenger side.
Not unless you can work backwards with owners who might have papers with the vin number.
