Nethercutt Museum in California auction of some 1920's cars. Durant, Flint and a Dort among them.
I received a notice from Hagerty that the Nethercut collection will be auctioning off quite a number of 1920's and teen cars. Some rare cars too! Among them is a 1926 Flint, a 1924 Durant A-22 sedan and a Dort. Might be a good buy for someone who is interested in adding to their collection, or you can always buy one of these and donate it to the Durant Museum Foundation! I think Hagerty is handling the auction for them, but I'm not sure. You can view them on the Hagerty.com site.

Hi Mike:
I have to reflect on this to tell my story: J B Nethercutt (SR) contacted me thru his curator many years ago. Skip Marchetti wanted to know if I would want to sell my DeVaux. I told him I was not done with the restoration, so I routed him of a coupe in Upstate N.Y. that was on E-Bay. They bought it and Skip told me later that Mr. N was telling some friend that he could not believe it that he bought a car off E-Bay. The car sat in storage in a bag to fumigate for a couple of years. When Mr. N. passed away, the car went to Hershey with a Gardner and a few other cars to be sold at auction. Howard Reinke went to Hershey to bid on it but a man from Lebanon bought it and had it shipped to him. I have pictures of the car after he restored it. That man is a life member of the club.

Do You own a car built by Durant? Just good memories

A short story about JB Nethercutt from the first Durant Family Registry meet in Dearborn Michigan in 1981. JB Nethercutt, owner/president/founder of Merle Norman cosmetics (very high end expensive products) came to our meet with his wife and "crew" of mechanics. He had a Star coupe just like the one he and his wife had when they were first starting and poor. They sold cosmetics from their car. He was now very wealthy and had an extensive collection of big dollar restorations that were restored to perfection. He wanted to attend this first meet and if I remember correctly had this car restored in record time. It was perfect! He even had a small radio on the back shelf connected to the "chicken wire" in the roof to serve as an antennae, just like on his original car. He was driven around in a Lincoln limo and his people shepherded around the Star. He had "gift bags" for all the ladies(and gentlemen) that was probably an expensive gift. The Star was placed in his beautiful collection in Sylmar California on the main floor near all the big classics. The club got to tour this collection(which I highly recommend) at a later meet.
