My mechanic and I are at our wits end trying to adjust our steeldraulic brakes. Looking for someone who has this skill. I am in central NEw York state and referals would be greatly appreciated. Kenn 607 592 1911

There used to be a Steeldraulic adjustment page in the technical specs, but I can't find it anymore. I just Googled Steeldraulic brake adjustment for Durant cars and all sorts of information came up. As you may know this type of braking system was used on several independent makes from this era. There were instructions on how to proceed. Maybe you can list the specific problems you are having? When adjusted correctly they will lock up your wheels, which then gives you those skinny tires to do their best! One problem that may never come up for you is brake fade from repeated use (say going down a long incline). They fade not from brake fluid boiling but from the drums heating up and expanding away from the brake shoes, increasing the clearance and diminishing their effectiveness. There are (expensive) work arounds for this, but again you may never experience this situation. Good luck!
I have followed the DeVaux for many years and have collected a lot of reference pages to the Steeldraulic brakes. I can duplicate them and send to you.
Years past I have supplied these instructions to other club members.
How can I get them to you?

Ross the info is still in old DMAC found in the waybackmachine site Not sure this will take you there. Lot of the missing info inc durantcars is there I refer to often.
I have found a source to help with steeldraulic brake relining . Scott at Fort Wayne Brake Materials &Parts 260 426 3331 was recommended to me through a friend in the Hupmobile club. Scott seems to know steeldraulic brakes better than anyone.
