first lo0k at the ID plate on the passenger side of the firewall, it will give you the serial number and model number. The cast date is located on both the head and block. I'm sure members of the board or Bob Smith can write a letter to verify the model year.
Something to remember is you can't use casting dates of engines to come up with a year of production of the car. The 614 did not come out until Jan 4 1930 but 22A engines were cast Oct and up 1929. So 1929 is not the year of a car that only came out 1930. Conny had to cast engines before vehicles ever rolled off the assembly line. On the other end of the 614's my 32 casting dates are in 1931 as its long assumed we used up 22A's to create our 32 cars at Leaside. We have no 22A's in the Registry with casting dates after 1931. So again my car can't be made 1931 when it has an after Feb 1 1932 vin, single bar bumper and 1930 Essex interior door handles, used on the 1932 Dominion Motors cars 614, 618, 407.
Again look at the 40A used in the 1931 675 De Vaux, all 40A's are only cast 1931. 1932 De Vaux 680 used the 40A with the Hall name ground off. 1932 De Vaux 680 came out April 1 1932 was not produced 1931 as casting date has. Now in 1933 Conny brought out the Ace and what did it use ? The 1931 40A with Hall name ground off but they called it a 41A on the engine plate but block has the 1931 casting date and has 40A casting. Again you can't use the casting date as year of production when Ace came out July 1933. Again the thought is that De Vaux over ordered 40A 1931 so they got used up the next two years. De Vaux - Hall ordered 8000 bodies for the 675 and we know vins went from 1001 - 5609 on the 675 (or 4609 cars not the 8000 bodies) Add in 1932 680 with vins from 5610 - 7078 (1468 cars and still not up to the 8000 bodies) Ace US 81-1001 to 81-1651 (651 cars) Frontenac Ace Can 91-1001 to unknown made but with 40A and Hall name ground off.
