617 is a totally different body to prior to 1930 cars. There are a number of 40 / 60 / 65 roadsters / coupes in the club inc Rick's 60.

So it appears the coupe is an M2 based on the tag. It may also be a 1928. Here is a picture to help show the measurements I need.

I see the vin plate on the firewall which will tell me what year this is. M2 Star Jan 1 1928 to March 31 1928 or M2 Durant April 1 1928 to Oct 1928. Plate will say Star or Durant. Vin will give plant by its letter followed by the number. To July 31 1928 is 1928 model year, Aug 1 1928 to Oct 1928 is 1929 model year. vins are model year not production year.
Hopefully a club member can give you the info you are looking for on this coupe.

This is pictures of the wood structure from when I restored my M-4 Coupe...This is the same structure as was used on your M-2, (I am thinking that the M-2 Durant and M-2 Star are basicly the same?) this was also used on the model 40...Anyway,Thought it might be of some help, Sorry I don't have spacement dimentions for the door posts here, would be spring before I could help you with that, hopefully someone can help you a little sooner.

Hi Mike you have a M2 Star Coupe made between Jan 1 1928 to March 31 1928 at the New Jersey plant. M2 Star became the M2 Durant April 1 1928. Vins start at 1001 again but with Oakland now making M2 Durant's as well.

Don't go by durantcars info on vins with that to E-34999 ? and no Leaside.
We presently have nine M2 Stars in the Registry, eight Eliz and one Leaside. Of the eight five are coupes. Yours will now make six.

M2 Star Jan 1 1928 to Mar 31 1928
Eliz plant E-1001 to E- 6000
Leaside plant T-1001 to T-2000

M2 Durant Apr 1 1928 to July 31 1928
Eliz plant E-1001 to E-35000
Oakland C-1001 to C-10000

Again don't go by durantcars with those vins and Lansing didn't make M2

And yes there is a big vin jump at Oakland presumably to make it seem Billy made more cars than he did. The Registry shows vehicles within the ranges shown.
