For 9N Ford serial number <12499 1939 to 1940. Starter Switch (push type). Replaces: 1996487 Delco, 405C Delco. (Not the same as Triangular 9N11450B 1940 to 1947) (TIS DR405C).

It happened to me several years ago. You'd think such a boneheaded simple part would last forever. Over time it might arc and buildup soot and cut down the ability to make good contact. Found an off the shelf replacement at my local NAPA store.
