With all the health issues going on, and all the events not going on, we decided to do something different while staying home.

We brought out the "DMAC Cookie Cookbook" created by Peggy Spitz and Carla Spitz Fisher for the 7th Annual DMAC Meeting in New Jersey in September, 2004 (Thank You Peggy and Carla).

After looking through the recipes, we settled on Carla's recipe for Gingerbread cookies. We enjoyed a much different evening of measuring, mixing and baking. We cut the recipe in half since there are only two of us to eat the bounty of our labor. The half-recipe made about 6 dozen cookies so we will enjoy them for days to come.

Looking through the cookbook brought back many happy memories of the event in New Jersey: New Jersey tomatoes (thanks Charlie), the tour of the now gone Elizabeth Durant Factory, the tour of the home of a Durant company executive, visiting the site of Durant's home, the City Hall in Deal, meeting "Rocky" the Durant employee who had worked at the Elizabeth factory, and all the fun we had together. If you would like to take a stroll down memory lane, pull up the Durant web site, click on "Photographs" and look at all the photos of the 2004 event. Or look at photos of other events as well. We may not have a Durant event this year, but we can certainly reminisce about all the good times we have had together.

If you are looking for something to enjoy while staying home, pull out the DMAC Cookie Cookbook and enjoy an evening of cookie baking. Stay healthy, and we hope to see you at a future Durant event.

Re: Cookies

I don't know if it's in cook book, haven't seen one, but I can attest to Peggy's Lavender cookies she made once for a Durant meet! Yum Yum! Not only did I eat the bag she gave me but I scrounged a couple more to eat. Peggy sure is a great cook and a great member of the DMAC!

Re: Cookies

Thanks Bob-for a trip down Memory Lane. I also remember you enjoyed the NJ wines (and boy was I nervous about serving those to all our Wine savvy West Coast members! Hard to believe it was that many years ago-but then I remember that Ryanne (Carla's daughter, our granddaughter) was just 1 when we had the meet. I can still picture her in her little flapper dress and hairband. Now she is 16, a junior in a STEM high school. She will have an associate degree when she graduates from high school next year. She is on tract to become the first person to achieve the top award in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturing. NO grass grows under that girls feet. And her favorite cookies--Snickerdoodles! I make them for her all the time! And she still enjoys the Durant cars. Her's is the 1930 we own!
