I went to start the Star a few days ago. I did not have the opportunity to use it last year so it has sat for over a year in a heated garage.
It ran and started fine when I drove it into the garage in the fall of 2016. I have installed a new battery. When I engage the starter the shaft spins but the bendix does not engage. Everything was working fine previously??
Any suggestions?

I took your advice and doused the gear and the spiral with light oil (3 in 1) and it worked fine. I had previously used 10-30 and did hand wind the gear back and forth and it did not engage. Sometimes the obvious is staring us in the face. People like you make this forum so valuable to all of us with problems. We appreciate your help and assistance.
