How to take apart Hood Latches

I've removed three of the four hood latches on my 1931 Model 619.
However, I've run into a problem dissembling them. I removed the pin that
secured the cap, but I can't see how to remove the spring inside??

From there you need to chemically clean and derust the part. At the factory, the spring would be inserted in the barrel, then the compressor pin would be inserted, bent and braided on the bottom end. This results in a captive assembly.
