Hey there everyone. Full disclosure, I'm not a Durant guy, but do love old cars and restored them for many years. Recently when exploring a local salvage shop that sells everything from furniture to toilets, I uncovered this old radiator, and some internet research led me to discover this is likely from a Durant Motors vehicle.
I was going to purchase it and try to resell it to someone who might use it to restore a Durant (or whatever vehicle it's from). The place currently selling it has clientele that are not very car oriented so it would likely end up as some sort of wall decoration or part of an art project at best.
So my questions:
1. Is it from a Durant vehicle? and if so any idea year/model?
2. What do you think it's worth? I looked it over externally and the core was in tact and in pretty good shape with only a few bent fins and did not appear corroded. Didn't have a chance to peak inside.
In case you don't like photobucket, I put together a tutorial on how to use Google Photos to post to this site. You can find the tutorial by searching for Google Photos.
Good luck!
Where Are You From? Grand Junction, Colorado
Do You own a car built by Durant? 1926 Star Coupe, 1929 Durant 663, 1929 Durant 666
So is it worth saving this shell from the thrift/antique store it's sitting in. I think it's priced around $200. I'm not trying to make a ton of money on it but as a car restorer would love to see it help with someone's restoration as opposed to becoming wall art.
Would appreciate any input from this community.
Thanks
Bill
Hi Bill, I agree with Norm that it is a 1925 star. I am told by radiator shops that these honeycomb radiators cannot be repaired. If there is any damage they normally leak.. The shell looks to be in good shape. Should be worth between $50.00 - $100.00 Hope this info helps. Bert
