No ignition Key- ideas?

Gents,
My '24 Star has a slot for an ignition key but none came with the car. Can someone tell me about the key issue? Can I make do without one- do any generic Model T keys work? Etc- not sure how to proceed before stuff gets taken apart or re-routed.

Thanks,
Jim

Not sure if it will fit your Star, but at 1 time Frank Witkowski
had keys and ignition lock assemblies and keys for sale?

Re: No ignition Key- ideas?

The key is very basic - reminds me of the flat kind used on metal lockboxes. Any locksmith should be able to make one if you take the switch in.

Re: No ignition Key- ideas?

I was able to buy one at EBAY for my 25 Star. It is a Clum 2624. There is on listed now item 111012629697, though much more than I spent for mine. But there is a pic of it.

Star Key No Good- locksmith?

Okay, Frank sent me a great key and it won't go in at all.
I can see right away now that some paint has scraped away that my slot has a "37" stamped into the key boss and has a ridge inside on the left side to match a slot in the key.

Does this indicate that my '24 was re-keyed at some point? I went ahead and removed the whole key assembly/switch.

I am thinking I may need to seek out a locksmith? Just wanted to check with Durantonians first.

Thanks,
Jim Chocole
