Nickel plating companies

I am soon to get involved with finding a company or companies that do nickel and chrome plating. To begin my search, does anyone have suggestions of companies that they have had excellent results with and reasonable costs? Do these companies perform the nessesary prefinishing for superb plating jobs? Do they guarantee their work to last a reasonable time? Thanks in advance for your help in answering the questions.

Steve
I just had a tail light done by Graves Plating in Fairhope, Alabama. Did an excellent job. My next projects I'm going to send to Librandi's plating in Harrisburg. I've corresponded through the AACA website with one of their platers and they seem also to know what they are doing. I think the three most advertised in the car magazines are Pauls Chrome, Librandi's and Graves. There are others out there, but be careful that they do the show chrome for collector cars. Not all platers do that and the quality is not the best. Many in California are having chromers do their work but they are running them down to Mexico to cut costs. Will they stand behind their work? You want the chrome or Nickel to last for a long time since your going to pay so much for it. On that note, better start saving your pennies. The cost of plating is very expensive. I've heard costs of up to $2,000 for a radiator surround. Even my tail light was over $300. Some of the club members have used Pauls, but I hear through the grape vine that they are far more expensive than many other shops. The key is to call them and ask many questions. None will quote you until they see the item, some may do a rough quote from a picture. Also if you want to be correct for your car, Chrome outside, nickel for inside parts. 28 was the first year advertised for chrome outside. Good Luck

Re: Nickel plating companies

The catch is "Excellent work at reasonable cost."

They are all expensive. My first quote made me swallow my bubble gum!

I take all my chrome work to AIH Plating in Dubuque Iowa. They do excellent work and have a LIFETIME transferable warranty! I have had one or two small problem and they have fixed them with no hesitation.

They are expensive. But they are good!
