Hey Gary
I've recently done quite a bit of research on this and here is what I've found out. Our 28-29 and I believe later is not really what they call a honeycomb but is called the Auburn type ribbon cell radiator. No one in this country makes the cores for these anymore but they are made still by a company in the United Kingdom. There are about two well known companies in the United that work on our types of radiators. One is known as the American Honeycomb Radiator Company in Maine and the other is the Brassworks in California. There is also an individual in Ohio that works on these but he doesn't advertise much. All three get their cores from the company in England. I've corresponded with all three and the company in England as well as a company in New Zealand. The guy in Maine was way too expensive and quoted me a price that was ridiculous. The guy in England was really nice to deal with but you have to ship it to him, which can cost going from the USA to the UK. I'll probably go with the 3rd place after speaking with the Brassworks, they just got done doing a 30 Durant radiator for someone. But I haven't been able to find out who it is that they did the work for. They seem to know what they were talking about. None of these are cheap and all are over $1,000 to get it done correctly. The core alone is around $900. Some of our Durant restorers have been having a newer style core put on the inside then cosmetically putting the older core on the outside. This works but it's not authentic. If anyone is going to show their car, at least with the AACA then this will not pass as everything must be authentic so you have to go with the original. After the first of the year I'm sending mine to the Brassworks so I'll keep everyone posted on what transpires. Most modern radiator shops do not know how to handle our types of radiators and some will not touch them. If you do go to a local person I understand that you must make sure they do no Pressorise the system the old solder etc can't take it.
