My 1923 Continental W4 has 3 aluminium pistons and one cast iron piston with a damaged gudgeon pin bush. I am looking for a secondhand piston as I'm not reboring the engine at this stage.
Details written on the piston are:
Continental W4A-405.
Number on top of piston is 3.1235
Piston length: 3.256
Diameter of Piston: Bottom - 3.117
Diameter of engine bore: 3.139
Can anybody help with with this please.

Rick, I think I have some W4 rods and aluminum pistons on a back shelf. I can't get to it this week but next week I'll see if I have some decent parts. Are you sure of the size? Seems like you have a standard (3 1/8") piston with a + .010" cylinder. Or is the cylinder worn on a taper?
Anyways, I have a special on W4 pistons this month,,,,, FREE, just pay shipping!!!
There ya go talking about Ken again, with the Moosemobile.
He's probaby busy trying to put out fires. I hear they are having a lot of trouble in BC with forest fires, everywhere.
Well we are having a few fires but we need them to send some heat to Ottawa . Maybe it will dry up all the rain you folks are getting. With all the sunshine we have I am getting to be a brown berry.
You know I ate the moose . The hide made a nice coat for my secret girl friend--(she likes it) collar is getting a bit ratty tho since she chews on it a lot .
Sure is smoky around here tho--a smoker just has to breath and satisfy his craving.

Lordy its like Niagara Falls here. We broke all known records for July and 10 cm's (4 inches)over. Some source said this was to be a hot dry summer. Must have been in the giggle juice to give that prediction. Tuesday we got a dilly of a storm that passed across Ontario and I'm sure Ron got up there. Tornado through a stretch of Que just north of us ripping up homes and trees. We got trees ripped up near here and lightning / thunder and sure loads of water. Was to continue going east and hit the Maritimes on Wed.
Don't need any heat here, in Canada's Capital, with all the hot air up on Parliament Hill, or City Hall having fits because some country folks in new Mega Ottawa have front yards with flowers and plants, instead of manicured lawns. Guess who lost that battle, and it wasn't the county folk. Now its signs on posts at farm laneways, selling produce, eggs and such, but they are not fancy signage with City of Ottawa Logo in the corner. Another war coming over that with farmers basically saying shove it and refusing to pay any fines. Talk about nit picking over nothing. No wonder the farmers and those country folks outside the orig Ottawa, saying they want de-amalgamation. Not that they were ever asked if they wanted amalgamation in the 1st place.
News we get here is BC is almost entirely in flames with 400 individual fires. Interesting what media doom and gloom will spread to sell papers or fill TV news reporting. Kamloops being one of the hot spots. Sounds about right with your saying about smoke.
This morning I looked and none of the pistons I have are aluminium. If you are unable to find one, please let me know and I will put it on my shopping list for Hershey.
