Head Bolts

I cleaned and painted my engine only to learn here that the washers I used under the head bolts were too soft. I've replaced then with Grade 8 washers but now I need to repaint the heads.

My question is: Should I run the engine, re-torque the bolts and then paint the heads? Or can I paint the heads now before I hang stuff on and around them and skip the re-torquing?

Re: Head Bolts

Did you replace them one at a time and re torque as you go? If so, paint 'em up and go drivin'!

Re: Head Bolts

Thanks Don! I replaced and re-torqued them one at a time. I replaced only those that were original so about a third haven't been touched.
