Identifying Autolite Distributor

I found a complete Autolite distributor among the loose parts that came with my 1925 Star (W5 Motor). The Star manual says that the original distributor was an Autolite IG-4047 but I can't find any numbers on the one I found. How do I tell if it is original to the car?

Re: Identifying Autolite Distributor

Hi Vince....

If you have one of my illustrated parts manual reprints there is a page of pictures showing the various distributors.

The cap and rotor are different on the early units, the rotor is a full circle and the cap has a raised rim at the base. These are getting harder to find, the newer ones have a tear drop shaped rotor and regular cap, these are still available from NAPA.

Hope this helps, I'll try and get a picture of one of the ones on my Star M.
