On the inside of the front end plate of my generator
there's what looks like a fuse holder. There doesn't
appear to be any wires connected to it.Can anyone advise whats its purpose.

Re: Generator

Peter,

The fuse is in the feild circuit. I believe it is a 5 amp. It protects the feild from being burned out. I can't put my hands on a wiring diagram rigth now. Will contact you when I locate it.

Re: Generator

Peter,

The fuse completes the ground connection to the feild windings. One end of the fuse clip is permanetly connected to the end bell of the generator the other end is connected the feild winding. The other end of the feild winding is connected too the third brush. If the current thru the feild gets to high the fuse blows and interupts the current flow through the feild and keeps the winding from burning up.
