Stop worrying Durant enthusiasts. The diecast insert came out intact, although the metal looks like chip board. My plan is to remove the rest of the spigot so no more metal can cycle through the gears. Then bush the bolt holes so the bolts are a neat fit, all the load...
SHOULD I TRY TO GET IT OUT. THE PINION HOUSING HAS A DIECAST INSERT. MOST OF THE SPIGOT HAS BROKEN AWAY AND THE METAL LOOKS CRUMBLY. WHAT DOES EVERONE ELSE DO?THE BEARING IS WORN BUT OK BUT I'D PREFER TO REPLACE IT.
i see my 1931 model 6-14 4 door coach sedan, 6 wooden wheels twin fender mounts, complete and almost rust free is for sale for $7200 in Auto Roundup magazine...

I have most of the parts I need for this heater. Missing is both ends of the smaller ducts--the end that collects the air from the fan-(a funnel type thing) --and the other end that fits in the floor of the cab--( sort of like a floor register with a vent closer )...

The Dec Collectible Automobile magazine has a photo spread of a Locomobile 48. It mentions Durant. I suspect the colors are non-authentic for 1923, but it looks flashy. Engine looks archaic. Like a 1918 Waukesha truck or tractor engine.
does anyone know if the dentations on the end of the throwout bearing for the three fingers are normal or are they wear marks.should they be filled up when restoring or does it matter.i would appreciate any help i can get.
thanks

What do others do with worn tie rod balls? Does anyone make replicas, or do you just repair them and try to make them as round as possible?
A local engineering shop said they can set up to make me a couple new ones, but it was far from a cheap price.
