Google Analytics and Bravenet web stats

The numbers recording on my Google Analytics account don't match the numbers reported on the Bravenet web stats. Why is this and which is more accurate. They is a huge difference between the two numbers.

Re: Google Analytics and Bravenet web stats

If there is a major difference then you have probably got one counting page views and the other counting visits.

As a general point most hit counters, including Bravenet's, depend on downloading a small graphic to the page. The count is registered when this graphic downloads. If you page is slow to download or if the visitor has a slow connection then they may move on before the download has finished and the count registered. For this reason hit counters generally under count.

The only really accurate stats are those provided from your web server itself - but not all hosting services make these available.

Peter,

As a user of bravenet do you find that the stats that they provide are the server information and therefore sort of more accurate than Google Analytics. I think theoretically this Bravenet page is the server numbers, no?
