I was trying to upload a template to one of the other pages on my website and it applied it ot my index page! Have I now lost my original page?

Not necessarily if you had your previous index.html page saved on your computer or such

ALWAYS back up your files if you overwrite something like you did here


You can always see if a cached version is out their on google. I have done that before when messed up a page I was working on

much thanks...i did not back it up on my computer (thought I wasn't going to screw up (lol)) but i did find it cached!
How do I get rid of the current template and go back to my original one?

Upload the files you found in cache?
(After such cleanup as may or may not be required)

As said ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR FILES no matter.

Mistakes can always happen and then when you don't have your files BACKED UP you could have problems

Just edit your page to change out the one background to the other or save your cached page as the new index.html page
