made my index page

uploaded it using FTP.

got this : This Website is under construction

Whats up, is there a waiting period ?

I used Frontpage to make my index page.

Ace FTP to upload it.

named it index.html

uploaded it to the correct folder.

This sucks

your index.html page has not been uploaded yet

check to make sure you didn't upload it to a folder called index_files

it needs to be in your root directory or it won't show.

So right now your index.html page is your under construction page


So when you get your index.html page published/uploaded to your ROOT folder not a subfolder in your root directory area

then anything else needs to match up as well, images, other things also for your page

I always delete that index page so it does not appear

Log into your bravenet account.
Click on your website tab.
Click on your website.

Do you see your files uploaded? If you do then double check that you do not have multiple index files. Such as index.html, index.htm, index.php, etc.

The Under Construction page is index.html
When you enter your domain the server will check for index.html, if it doesn't find that it will look for index.htm.

If you call your home page index.htm you MUST log in to your account and delete index.html

I was getting web site under construction error and come to this forum to get some help. So I did what some of the people below stated such as delete my index page and now my website says Cannot find http://jackgaffneysfriends.name/

WHY DID YOU DO THAT

You are not supposed to do THAT

You can call your home page index.htm or index.html

You only delete index.html IF you have created a page called index.htm

take a look at the source code for your index.html file. i know that think that you uploaded your own index.html file, but the index.html file that was in your home directory at bravehost my not have been replaced by your index.html file. do you understand?

if you take a look at the source code of the index.html file at the bravehost server (the one that is uploaded) you may find that your new index.html file was not uploaded; the original index.html file is still there - the one that says "under construction".

in other words, your file may not have been uploaded, understand?
