Adding a domain to an existing Bravehost 'site'

Hi,

I have an existing site, which on the 'Website Manager' page has foobar.bravehost.com under 'Website Address'.

I can access it at foobar.bravehost.com successfully.

Now I have a domain to use - foobar.com - and I want my existing site to use this domain.

I have changed my nameservers with my registrar, and now the domain points to bravenet, which generates a warning: "Unconfigured Site".
That makes sense.

How do I get my existing site, which is currently using a bravehost subdomain to use my new domain?

Thanks for your help.

Log in to your Bravenet account. On the websites section click on "Domain Names"
Click on "Add External Domains"

Doing that adds the domain to my account, but does not link it to the bravenet site (currently foobar.bravehost.com).

It does allow me to create a new site for that domain (the link "Build a Website" is available), but I want to use it for my existing website.

Log out and log back in. You will now have the redirection option available. Redirect the domain to the existing Bravehost site.

Re: Adding a domain to an existing Bravehost 'site'

Thanks.

I have set up a redirect as you described, but this is not quite right either.

I enabled 'masking', as I don't want users to be redirected to the subdomain.

However, with this configuration, every link within the site leaves the address bar with the domain rather than the correct URI.

Eg.
The user clicks a link that should lead to:
www.mydomain.com/hello.html
The page renders, but the browser Address bar reads:
www.mydomain.com

Furthermore, manually entering:
www.mydomain.com/hello.html
renders the home page:
www.mydomain.com/

Is it possible to just get the bravehost 'site' copied under this new domain?

Thanks for your ongoing help with this question.

You can upload your website directly to the domain.

You will need to download the files from your current website (if they are not already on your computer) and then you can upload them to the new domain. Using the file manager or FTP.
