Well could be you tried to post code in your post of some kind and messed it all up
UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING DO NOT POST HTML CODE in these forums it will mess up the thread and such.
I have seen it happen many times here. People try to post the code to show in helping with their problem and it totally messes up the thread and you can't post to it anymore so you posting before or one of them in that thread has it that you had to start a new one.
So as said UNLESS you know how to REALLY post coding in here to help with your problem don't.
Some of us who know how to post things in here will help if can.
Corwings suggested the use of ASCII character codes. A complete reference for these codes can be had at W3Schools - HTML ASCII Reference. But they are not necessarily easy to use and the current Bravenet forum will filter some of them, making your posting jibberish.
Over the years, Bravenet has been a moving target with their forums. Their original forum worked very well for posting HTML code and was easy, at least for myself, to work with. But, not a lot of users agreed with me. Since then, Bravenet has changed their forum. You can still post HTML code, but you need to know what "bb code" is.
Every time you post, there is a link at the top of the message box that says "bb code". This gives a brief explanation on how to use "bb code". To post HTML code you simply wrap the code in the "bb code" delimiters. For example, Using an ASCII character code for the "left arrow", as in Corwings post, you could post the following code.
Yadada Yadada
To do this with "bb code", you would wrap the HTML code in "code" tags with square brackets. So the line would like this
Code:
<title>Yadada Yadada</title>
Line spacing is a little awkward, and a few extra break characters are added after the code. But you can imbed other "bb code" tags within the code you are posting. For example, I can use the "bold" tag to highlight one of the words in the HTML code.
Just don't try to get too fancy. The "bb code" in this forum is limited in what it can do.
And, don't forget that there is a "Preview Message" button available when posting. I compose all of my posts off-line and then use the use the "Preview Message" button to make sure my post is the way I want it to be. On complex posts, I may preview my posting a dozen times. Most users, which is usually obvious from their spelling and sentance structure, don't bother previewing.
Browser: Firefox, Netscape, Sea Monkey, Internet Explorer, .....
The test above was to confirm what I thought I remembered:
If you do use ASCII character codes, things may look just fine in preview. But when you then move on to actually post the message, the result will be as if you had written the code as you saw it in preview.
(I had intended to delete the test, but apparently that option is gone when you post code)
As a rule I always preview, except for on the occasions when I make embarassing mistakes. I'm really, really grateful for the edit/delete option.
