Hard to believe but we will soon be approaching
50 years since we left Viet Nam.
I've wondered if the following might be possible.
Through our American Embassy there (or whatever
office we may have there now) if we could enlist
the service of an American photographer (if there),
foreign photographer or Vietnamese photographer
to take pictures of the sites of our former bases.
Places like Artillery Hill, Plei Dejereng, the
fire base at Dak To next the river, Ben Het and
the location at Kontum and others. Hopefully, we
have maps available that would give the photo-
grapher the exact location of the former positions.
I think it would be very interesting to see what
these former positions look like today.
I'm sure there would be a cost of this service but
if it wouldn't be something outrageous we might
take up a collection.
And... it just might take 10 years to pull this off.
Fitting for our up and coming 50th Anniversary.
I guess this all would really depend on the
Vietnamese government allowing it. Just a thought.
