Sunlight Streaks on Windshield

We installed a new windshield yesterday that when you get it out of the shop and in the sun, it has streaks of light on it. I've seen this before on older windshields in the wiper worn area of the glass, but never on a new windshield.

Can anybody shed some light (pun intended) on this?

Re: Sunlight Streaks on Windshield

Might be oil residue from the manufacturing process

Try cleaning with dishwashing detergent

Re: Sunlight Streaks on Windshield

I suppose you could be right Ira. I know for certain that the windshield was thoroughly cleaned (both sides) with Sprayway Glass Cleaner using fresh clean paper towels before installation.
