Yes. It’s a waste of time. I’ve also used collection agencies and attorneys to collect from customers who won’t pay their bills. The results are less than impressive. In the case of insurance companies, they have have so many attorneys on their payroll that they just laugh. Your time is better spent checking your state laws to see how to collect. Depending on where you live small claims court or arbitration, or some other inexpensive alternative may be the answer. Check with your state commerce department as well. You can also check with the IGA and see if there’s an attorney in your area who is familiar with the issue.
