Perhaps you should consider giving voice to the dedicated people that have had their careers destroyed by unnecessary restructures - since you are giving Tom an open microphone to pitch his rubbish. The industry deserves to hear the real story. Otherwise, aren’t you just an extension of their pr department?
The Difference Between a Career and a Job. ... A job is something you do simply to earn money; a career is a series of connected employment opportunities. A job has minimal impact on your future work life, while a career provides experience and learning to fuel your future.

perhaps that is the sinister part. People felt they were developing a career and worked towards an end, improved their skills, and committed to the business; only to find out that their effort was only a job that could be pencil stroked away to show a short term gain and a "bold" strategy to show that technology is more powerful than human connection. Ironic, because any consumer knows that both count. Funnier still are the people opinion surveys and leadership development and all of the supposed "power your career" elements that should have a "....except for you if we decide to eliminate your JOB". Savage as a whole because it is completely unnecessary and amounts to a financial shell game...show the gain here, lose ground there.... dirty.
I learned this a long time ago.
Put your finger in a glass of water.
Pull it out as fast as you can.
The length of time it takes for the water
to fill the hole left by your finger is
how long it takes to replace you at you place of employment.
NO ONE is irreplaceable. People get sick, hurt, in accidents.
Life will move on. Your are NOT the only thing that makes a company go.
Sorry to pop any Bubbles but it helps keep things in perspective.
