"High-Tech Windshields are More Than a Piece of Glass"

The article by Tom Voelk erroneously states windshields are made with two pieces of tempered glass. The last time I looked 99.999% of windshields in use today are composed of two pieces of annealed glass.

Re: "High-Tech Windshields are More Than a Piece of Glass"

I remember a memorable trip up the Andes in Ecuador. About half way up a Mercedes truck was parked on the left side with an obviously tempered windshield completely shattered. The driver had a big silly grin on his face. That's something you'll never see in the US because as you stated, windshields here are not tempered. Some side window may be tempered and laminated, but never windshields.

Re: "High-Tech Windshields are More Than a Piece of Glass"

It is very true that installers are getting more trouble when using non-OE auto glass maker's products and ending up failure of ADAS re-calibration. the distributors shall always try to introduce OE quality products.
